Many, Many, Many…

A big update for me right now, as i prepare for some big releases coming out next year!

First thing to not is some tidying up of the blog. I have made a new Music section which acts as a discography with all my albums and EPs listed on there, check it out!

I have retired the Nebulae Music Bandcamp and added all the releases on there to my main bandcamp to make browsing my catalog easier for you guys 🙂

BANDCAMP

You may also notice a new Nebulae Music release on there. This is just a small compilation EP of a few odds and sods from the catalog. The entire discography is available at 50% the price. “Nebulae Music” will be available in the next few weeks from online distributors and streaming services…

I am starting to upload solo acoustic renditions of originals and covers to my youtube channel now as well, the most recent being a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”, check out the playlist below:

I aim to upload a new video each week so make sure you subscribe to stay updated 🙂

I have joined a few new platforms including ReverbNation, NoiseTrade and Twitter. Check out the Contact/Links section of the website for the updated list…

Finally, i am working with mix/master engineer Jeffro Lacksheide on a compilation EP which will include 6 songs (two new) from my rock catalog, also in conjunction with this i will be releasing a sister EP of a similar nature, showcasing 6 electronic tracks with a new mix to them. The EP’s are set to release early next year as two separate releases and also a double EP so stay tuned for that !!!

New Year Nigh! (Wine and Winter)

As 2017 draws to a close i finish an EP of ambient music i have been working on last half of December.

Winter Also EP

Winter Also is a return to my early ambient improvisation style but includes some more abstract sound sources as appose to just vst instruments with lots of reverb on. The EP is my 6th in the Nebulae Music/HAMG Electronic series of releases, back tracking to my first album “Summit” as being the “First” HAMGEL release (obviously i made it before HAMGEL, but it fits with the catalogue).

a notable sound source used on the EP is on “December Sleet” where i decided to use wineglasses to get sustained drones, more on that in a later post.

I got the idea for the EP last day of semester when i recorded some improvised synth pad at the college. I began with the Nord Lead then added some Juno 106 along with a VST organ. Afterwards extra vst layers, guitar and the wine glasses were recorded at home.

Hope to work on another EP and album over next year, more of the rock stuff to come along with hopefully some gigs aswell 😉

See you all in the new year!

Writing 20 minutes of Audio | Weekly Log 1 | 18th Sept 17 – 24th Sept 17 |

Here is the first of a series of logs to document the production process of a 20 minute track. The piece entitled “For the Sake of Patience” is to be handed in as a degree assignment but will also be released along with a second track in an EP a the end of the project when the track is finalized.

01
I began by creating midi tracks with various VST synthesizers and drum kits. I then started to record ideas down.

At the early stages i wasn’t sure what i wanted the piece to be. I knew i wanted it to be Electronic, but i didn’t know what styles and genres i would incorporate into the project. I also wanted to incorporate some rock influences into the piece by having some live drums in places and also guitar and bass guitar.

2
Next i sequenced all loops and tracked any additional parts to get a solid basis of the piece.

After doing all this, i had a solid piece of music to work on. Next step will be recording live drums for the appropriate sections and also Vocals, the latter of which will be recorded next week.

FIRST SINGLE IS HERE!!!

As I am not far from finishing my first album “Recluses Handbook” I decided to release a single from the album. “Weightless” is a sad song and a happy song at the same time. The Band and I all enjoy playing this one live and hope you enjoy listening to it.

The B-Side “Recluses Lament” is an ambient piece recorded under Nebulae Music. I decided to release this with “Weightless” as i felt it had a similar contrasting mix of feelings.

Hope you enjoy both the single and b-side, links down below and more to come in the future…

Nebulae Music Volume iii release dates!!!

Nebulae music Volume iii is finally on its way with the Bandcamp release being on Tuesday 21st March. The album is set to be released through net label Zenapolae in late April/early May.

Volumes 1 and 2 were also released via Zenapolae.

You can preview on the tracks here called “April Snow”

I plan to possibly do a small CD run for this release to be sold at solo gigs alongside solo material that i plan to release onto CD as well for a small run.

Finally i am also going to be incorporating styles from techno, trance, dub and house music into future releases which i hope interests you reading this post. One example that will be re-recorded and re-released is “Electronirock”.

This version released on Soundcloud earlier this year is a demo created as part of a degree assignment.

(P.S. i plan to possibly release a second track on sound cloud soon alongside the albums release so stay tuned)

My fourth album is released! Nebulae Music Vol. 2: Background Radiation has crawled it’s way out of the shadowy depths of my computer and into your audio receptor holes.

I started recording the album last year when the first piece “The Impossible Mirror [Part 1]” was recorded at Northbrook college. all the other tracks were recorded over time and fell into place with each other as one dark, droning experimental mess. You can purchase the album via bandcamp or download it for free from soundcloud
