I’m back for revenge!!!
Now that summer is over it’s time to get working! “Hot Air Music Presents…” will now be taking place on Tuesdays at Bar 42 as myself and Mark Knowles have something that we’re gonna be working on for Wednesdays. The first gig back is coming soon on 18th October featuring Funkzilla, Etcetera and Christelle.
Opening artist Christelle has an EP you should check out from April, thanks to the support of fans, friends, family and through crowdfunding. You can purchase the EP from iTunes here.
Funkzilla have also been busy writing with some new songs being added to the library, you can here their stuff on their Soundcloud page.
I just had to get my baby niece as she started crying. Now i have here sitting listening to Funkzilla’s Pre Jam which is awesome. Seriously check these guys out.
I have a few recording projects lined up. First being with Phantom of Eden. I have a few original songs for Phantom which not only we will play at the next gig but also hope to record as an EP or album. Also i hope to record my solo stuff soon as well!
In other new i have plans to start doing YouTube videos. I have been planning to re try my music review series Sound Scope of which three original episodes were recorded and were very shit. Thus i am re inventing it and hopefully it will be of interest to anyone. i may also plan some other videos to offer a better range of content.
Starting off the first of many “Hot Air Music Presents…” gigs we had New Tropics supported by Funkzilla, Etcetera and our Luke Amor. Night went well, had a nice crowd although a lot of people seemed to leave after Funkzilla leaving New Tropics with a smaller audience then they should have for a band of their calibre. Check out all the artists on Facebook!!!

With the passing of this first gig i feel it went well. We had a decent enough crowd and all the bands sets were really good. There were a few problems though.
One problem i had encountered was i forgot to discuss with the bands about amp heads however we were able to find two combo guitar amps in the back which were used as heads in the end so that problem was solved.
Another problem i feel i had was i forgot to write the address or venue name on the poster and so people who wouldn’t recognize the Bar 42 logo would not know where the gig was. Despite this we still had a good enough crowd and sound checks got done in the time given.
Overall i feel for the first event i have organised it went quite well however for the next gig i need to market more and also make sure the poster has Bar 42’s address.

Managing an Artist
As the new year dawns upon us, we prepare for not only 2016 but to manage an artist. The band my group will be managing is Funkzilla, a worthing based rock band with a funky edge.
- Joseph Bagwell – Music Business and Management
- Jordan Meher – Live Sound
- Ryan Heaney – Music Business and Management
- Chris Dewey – Vocals
- Ben Wilkinson – Electric Guitar
- Finn Haynes – Electric Guitar
- Luke Rippingham – Bass Guitar
- Seth Markes – Drums/Percussion
We also had to interview our artist breifly, here is what they had to answer our few questions we could pull out of the top of our heads.
1. What Sort of music would you be creating?
We will be making rock/funk rock music
2. What do you hope to acheive by the end of this project?
We wish to record an EP consiting of five or six songs. After this we hope to play a live gig to promote our new EP and also have it released online using stores such as iTunes, Amazon MP3 etc.
3. How can we help you with that?
We will need you guys to book recording/practice rooms, find people to help produce our album and also market and promote our new EP.
Taking it one step further…
So to expand on this project i thought it would be an interesting idea if not only i act as a manager but also if i try to create my own online record label. That way i can release their EP through my label and hopefully if the project goes well then i can continue this in the future, Incidentally if you are reading this and the site is already an established netlabel then it means it worked out and this is part of the history of Hot Air Music Group.
This not only will i have a small business to hopefully make some money i can also release my own music through here instead of sending out many emails to various labels in the hope i can get my music released…
With that note, HOT AIR MUSIC!
